Prof. Lilian-Rita Akudolu, teaches Curriculum and Instruction at
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. She started her career as
a primary school teacher before she obtained a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Education/French from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in
1985. As part of her undergraduate training, Lilian-Rita obtained a
Diplôme de Langue, Littérature et Civilisation Française, Université
de Grenoble 111, France. In 1988, she obtained a Masters degree in
Education (M.Ed in Curriculum Studies) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)
in curriculum Studies - Computer Assisted Language Learning in 1995,
from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. While doing her
Ph.D program, she did a diploma in Computer Applications at Doncan
Computer Systems International (DCSI) Enugu, Nigeria in 1992. From
2005 to 2006 she did her post doctoral Commonwealth Academic
Fellowship at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom.
Between 2008 and 2011, Lilian-Rita received professional training in
Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), Human Rights
Approach to Education and Resource Projection using the Education
Policy and Strategic Simulation Model (EPSSIM) among others, through
varied UNICEF workshops.
She was a member of the National Technical Team (Education
Strategies International -EDSI Technical Support Team) on the UNICEF
supported development of State Education Sector Plans (SESP) and
State Education Sector Operational Plans (SESOP) for States in
Nigeria in which she worked as Technical Support Team Task Officer
for Niger State In (2008/ 2009); Team Leader/Consultant for Ebonyi
State (2009/2010); and Task Team Leader/Consultant for Bayelsa State
and Delta State (2011/2012).
At the international level, Lilian-Rita was a Nigeria representative
at the Africa Higher Education Collaborative (AHEC) organized by the
Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) Washington D.
C. and Cairo from 2007 to 2009 and she was a Trainer in Research
Methods in the 2009- 2010 Regional Training workshops of the
Educational Research Network for West and Central Africa (ERNWACA).
She was the Principal Investigator (July 2010 - 30th October 2011) in
the Mobilizing Regional Capacity Initiatives (MRCI) program of the
Association of African Universities (AAU), a multi-country study
that covered Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.
Lilian-Rita, the Vice President of the World Council for Curriculum
and Instruction (WCCI), Nigeria Chapter is also a member of the
Nigerian Academy of Education. She has authored over 80 publications
in books and journals. She has in her portfolio many master's and
doctorate students who have successfully completed their thesis
under her supervision. She is also a mentor to both graduate and
undergraduate students. One of her mentee groups authored a research
proposal that won the 2011 Educational Research Network for West and
Central Africa (ERNWACA) Grants for Educational Research.
